What AVIF is
AVIF is one of the newest image formats. It makes very small files, so more websites serve images as AVIF, and some Android phones save photos in it. Support outside the browser is still patchy, though: many photo apps, office suites and upload forms don’t accept it yet.
Good to know
- Your browser does the decoding, so you need a recent one: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari 16.4 or newer.
- Transparent areas turn white in JPG. Choose PNG above to keep them.
- The JPG will be bigger than the AVIF. That’s expected; AVIF compresses far better.
Questions

Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, on your device.
Can I convert AVIF to PNG?
Yes. Choose PNG under “Convert to” before adding your files.
