How it works
The compressor tries the highest quality first and lowers it step by step until the file fits under your limit. Only if even low quality is too big does it make the picture smaller as well, so you keep as much detail as the limit allows. Sizes count 1 KB as 1000 bytes, the stricter reading, so the result fits forms that count either way.
Private by design
Most online compressors upload your photos to a server. This one runs in your browser, so passport photos, ID scans and signatures never leave your device. Each image is redrawn from its pixels, so location and camera data in the original are removed too.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Send Shed or anywhere else.
Which formats can I compress?
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, GIF and BMP in; JPG or WebP out.
Why does the compressor make my image smaller in pixels?
Only when the size limit is too small to reach by lowering quality alone. Small limits such as 20–50 KB usually need smaller dimensions as well.
