What's new: folders, videos that play in chat, ShareX and more
This update is about the places you already share files: Discord, X, ShareX and your phone's share button. Here's what changed and how to use each piece.
Videos now play inside Discord and X
Paste a Send Shed link to a video into Discord and it plays right there in the chat, the same as a clip uploaded to Discord directly, but without Discord's 20 MB cap. On X, the link shows a player card instead of a plain link.
This works for MP4, WebM and MOV files shared with Quick Share. Files with a password or a download limit stay as plain links, so nobody can watch them without going through the download page. See Discord's current file size limit if you're wondering why this matters.
Folders: one link that stays the same
Until now, each upload got its own link, and a batch of files was fixed at upload time. Folders change that. Create a folder in your free account, share its link once, and keep adding files to it: this week's clips, a client's project files, the family photos. Anyone with the link sees what's in it now, with a download button for each file.
You can upload straight into a folder, add files you've already shared, remove files and rename or delete the folder. Deleting a folder only removes the link; your files stay in your account. Password-protected and expired files never show up for visitors.
One-click ShareX setup
If you take screenshots or clips with ShareX, you can now send them straight to Send Shed. In your dashboard, open the ShareX tab, create an API key and download the config file. Double-click it and ShareX adds Send Shed as an uploader. After each capture, the link is on your clipboard, ready to paste into Discord.
The same key works from scripts too. The ShareX setup guide has the details, including a one-line curl example.
Keep a Quick Share file longer
Quick Share links last up to 7 days, with no account. After you upload, you'll now see an option to keep the file longer. Create a free account (or log in) and the files you just uploaded from that browser move into it, where they last 30 days and can go into a folder. You don't need to upload anything again.
Download counts on share pages
Download pages now show how many times a file has been downloaded, for example “Downloaded 1,284 times.” Password-protected files never show a count.
Share from your phone's gallery
On Android, you can install Send Shed like an app: open Quick Share in Chrome and tap Install. Send Shed then shows up in your phone's share menu. Pick a video in your gallery, tap Share, choose Send Shed, and the upload starts straight away. When it finishes you get a link. There's nothing to download from an app store.
iPhones don't let websites appear in the share menu, so on iPhone keep using Quick Share in Safari. Our guide to sending a large video from an iPhone walks through it.
Hit WeTransfer's limit?
WeTransfer's free plan now stops you after 10 transfers or 3 GB in any 30 days, and its links last 3 days. If that's where you're stuck, our WeTransfer limit page lets you send the file right away, with no account and no monthly cap.
What didn't change
Quick Share is still free with no account, up to 3 GB per file. Encrypted Share still encrypts files in your browser before upload, so we can't read them. Encrypted files can't go into folders or play in chat, because only the person with the full link has the key.
Quick answers
Do Send Shed videos play inside Discord?
Yes. Paste the link to a public MP4, WebM or MOV file and Discord shows a player in the chat. Files with a password or a download limit stay as plain links.
Can I add files to a Send Shed link later?
Yes, with a folder. Create one in your free account, share its link, and add or remove files whenever you like. The link stays the same.
How do I use Send Shed with ShareX?
Create an API key in your dashboard, download the ShareX config file, and double-click it. ShareX then uploads to Send Shed and copies the link for you.
Try it
Send a video with Quick Share and paste the link into Discord, or create a free account to start a folder.
