Where 50 KB limits come from
Exam registrations, government portals and visa applications often cap the photo and signature fields at 20–50 KB, sometimes with exact pixel sizes too. A phone photo is usually 2–5 MB, so it needs to shrink to about one hundredth of its size.
Tips for tiny targets
- Crop first. For a signature, crop to just the ink with a little white around it. For a passport-style photo, crop to head and shoulders. Less picture means more quality per kilobyte.
- Expect smaller dimensions. To reach 50 KB the compressor usually has to shrink the picture as well as lower the quality. That's normal, and forms at this size expect small images.
- Check the form's other rules. If it asks for exact pixel dimensions (for example 200 × 230), resize to those first, then compress.
Questions
How do I reduce a photo to under 50 KB?
Choose the photo, keep the target at 50 KB, and download the result. The compressor lowers the quality and, if needed, the dimensions until it fits.
Will my photo still be clear at 50 KB?
For a passport-style photo or a signature, yes, especially if you crop it first. A full-size landscape photo will look softer, because it has to shrink a lot.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
